Ödön Kacziány (1852–1933) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist, born on January 7, 1852 in Marosvásárhely (today Târgu Mureș, Romania) and died on January 10, 1933 in Budapest. He initially studied with Miklós Barabás and continued his education at the Munich Art Academy from 1869. Between 1874 and 1876 he deepened his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and went on study trips, including to Rome. Kacziány was known for his detailed and humorous scenes of everyday life as well as his masterful portraits. He has received numerous awards, including the Ernst Lajos Prize and the Nemes Marcell Prize. His works were exhibited both in Hungary and internationally, including at the Venice Biennale in 1914. A well-known work of his is the murals at the Szeged train station. In 1932 the Műcsarnok in Budapest dedicated a retrospective to him. His work can be found in the Hungarian National Gallery and various other collections.
