EMIL CZECH (Ober Langendorf 1862 - 1929 Ober Langendorf)

Emil Czech was an Austrian painter. He was born in Moravia, the youngest of ten children of a beer brewer. He spent his childhood in Mährisch-Neustadt. He began his art studies in the Viennese drawing school of Peuschel and Deininger and cwent on to study at the k.k. Kunstgewerbeschule des k.k. Österreichischen Museums für Kunst und Industrie with Michael Rieser. Czech then worked for six years with Eduard Veith on stage painting for the Vienna Volkstheater. Czech created ceiling paintings in the Ljubljana Theater. In 1890, he founded his own studio where he painted portraits, landscapes, genre paintings and sacred images. His early works were in academic naturalism.He gradually moved on to impressionistic colorism. From 1904, he was a member of the “Cooperative of Visual Artists” and from 1916 a member of the Albrecht Dürer Association. He took part in exhibitions in Vienna, Munich, Graz, and Berlin, In 1903, he showed his works at the Austrian exhibition in Chicago.
