The firm Mayer & Pierson was a business partnership of French photographer Pierre-Louis Pierson with brothers Léopold Ernest Mayer (d. 1895) and Louis Frédéric Mayer (d. 1913) that was established in 1855. Pierson and the Mayers started to distribute their images under the brand Mayer et Pierson, and became the leading society photographers in France and beyond. Initially using the daguerreotype, the Pierson-Mayer studio became one of the first to specialise in portrait photography retouched with watercolor or oils.
